Advocate-on-Record Exam 2013 | Supreme Court of India | Notification

Supreme Court of India has notified for the information of all concerned that the next examination for the Advocates-on-Record will be held in the Supreme Court premises, New Delhi on 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th June, 2013.

All advocates who will be completing one year's continuous training on or before 30th April, 2013 are eligible to appear for the aforesaid examination.

Bihar Superior Judicial Service Examination

The Selection/ Recruitment process shall be completed in three Stages:
A. Screening Test
B. Main Written Exam
C. Interview


A. Syllabus of Screening Test

The High Court shall hold screening test with a view to shortlist candidates and may prescribe minimum qualifying cut-off marks for appearing in the Written Test. The marks obtained in the screening test will be relevant for determining eligibility to appear at the written test and not for any other purpose.

The full marks for screening test shall be 300 and it shall be of 100 questions and each question will carry 03 marks but each wrong answer will incur 01 negative mark. It shall be of objective type. In the screening test, the questions will be in the subjects of Law, English Language, General and Computer Knowledge.
 
The questions in the subject of law, for screening test, would be in respect of provisions contained in the following enactments :

(1) The Constitution of India
(2) The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
(3) The Limitation Act, 1963
(4) The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
(5) The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
(6) The Transfer of Property Act, 1882
(7) The Indian Contract Act, 1872
(8) The Specific Relief Act, 1963
(9) The Sale of Goods Act, 1930
(10) The Indian Partnership Act, 1932
(11) The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881
(12) The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996
(13) The personal Laws (Hindu, Muslim and Christian)
(14) Indian Penal Cod


B. Syllabus of Main Written Examination

In the Main (Written) Examination, there may be as many papers with marks for each paper, as may be decided by the High Court, for the said examination on the subjects hereinafter provided :-

(4) The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
(5) The Indian Evidence Act, 1872

C. Interview/ Viva Voce

A candidate will be called for viva voce provided he secures atleast 45% in each theory paper. 
The ratio of marks of theory papers and viva voce will be 80% and 20%.

Scheme of Examination

It shall be a two-stage process-
(A) Written Examination
(B) Viva-Voce

Written Examination

There will be 5 papers of 100 marks each to be answered within 3 hours. here will be objective pattern questions with negative marking for paper II to paper V as mentioned below in addition to subjective/ conventional pattern questions. Answer-scripts shall be evaluated by adopting evaluation method. The pass mark on each subject will be 40 and in addition to that, the candidates must obtain 50% on aggregate in order to be successful in the written test and further 100 marks are reserved for viva voce and personality test. Total 300 marks in aggregate, i.e. 50% of the total marks (600), will be the qualifying marks for being empanelled in the panel for being appointed to the post of District Judge (Entry Level) by way of Direct Recruitment from amongst the members of the Bar.

It will be of 100 marks.
The Selection Board shall call such number of successful candidates in the written test for viva voce/ personality test as it thinks fit strictly according to merit list prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by those candidates. The final merit list will be published on the basis of the total marks obtained by the successful candidates on the written and the viva voce/ personality tests.
